In December Terri was moved from the hospice where she has been living for the last several years to a nearby nursing home because of renovations being done in the hospice. Her family commented at the time that although she seemed weak because of the recent deprivation of food and water she was recovering.  She seemed very responsive and they had a good visit.  Governor Bush had been empowered to order the reinstallation of a feeding tube and the resumption of food and water, averting Terri's death.

There is an online poll that asks whether people agree that "Terri's Law"--the law that empowered Florida Governor Jeb Bush to reinsert Terri Schindler-Schiavo's feeding tube--"violates Florida's Constitution."
If you think that death should come at its own pace rather than being imposed by the removal of food and water, you may want to go to http://www.wftv.com/news/2696590/detail.html and answer, "No."

The pro-euthanasia group End of Life Choices (formerly the Hemlock Society) has launched a $60,000 campaign in Florida, including speeches and newspaper advertisements, in the midst of the Terri Schiavo case. Pat Anderson, the attorney for Mrs Schiavo's parents, has accused the group of exploiting the case. He said: "Floridians need to know that this is the Hemlock Society with a new name, and they are trying to hide their pro-euthanasia agenda. They are using Terri Schiavo to promote euthanasia." [Sun-Sentinel, 10 December, as described by SPUC]]

Although Terri is consistently referred to in the media as being in a vegetative state, there are many doctors, experts in the area, who vigorously disagree, since she interacts with her family and is reported to have interacted with others around her.  She is also not terminally ill, although she is handicapped and at present receives her food and water through a feeding tube.
