Why keep our language accurate?

Why do we bother to keep our language accurate?

Why?  Take a look at this.

This is a comment found in a staunchly pro-abortion website:

I just visited the [xxx] for Life website. You'd expect a professional [xxx] organization to have a serious-looking web site and to discuss its issues in a professional manner, right? Not this one. They repeatedly refer to Obama as "Barrie Hussein." They call pro-choicers "abortoholics". And they refer to Planned Parenthood as "Klan Parenthood".

What a bunch of little kids.

I went to look, and they are accurate in their examples of terminology.

When we talk on our websites the way we would talk with like-minded friends in a private situation, we leave ourselves open to criticisms like this one.  In addition, it damages our credibility for those who just might be still making up their minds on the issue.

It makes it too easy for opponents to disregard what we say when we aren’t careful about our language.
