Mary Dwelley
Rochesterians gathered on April 19, 2006, to bid a sad farewell to Mary R. Dwelley, a local pro-life leader over the years. Mary was killed instantly in a car accident on April 11.
She was local, yes, but she travelled to Albany and elsewhere to testify on pro-life issues. And if there was any need anywhere around her, she worked to make it better. She sought out presentations by those who think abortion is a quick, easy solution, because she felt a need to understand their motivation and logic. After one of these presentations, she would be almost nauseated by what she had heard, but it didn’t stop her from doing it again.
She worked with the Diocese of Rochester, Feminists for Life, and dozens of other organizations for any cause that would help people and remove the impediments to their living a full life.
She is buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, but the works that she got into motion continue. Thank you, Mary.
