Glick's Abortion Training Mandate Ardently Opposed
by the New York State Right to Life Committee
Assembly bill A.2411, introduced by Assemblywoman Glick, would make abortion a standard part of resident training in hospitals in New York State. Furthermore, the bill would force institutions with a religious or moral objection to abortion to have mechanisms insuring that residents in their programs can learn abortion at other institutions.
This is an effort by abortion-on-demand zealots to institutionalize abortion training in public and private hospitals and to force those with moral objections into complicity with what they recognize clearly as child killing. This bill commits precious public resources to a violent and elective act against innocent human beings.
This bill is a pathetic attempt by desperate pro-abortionists to mainstream an act of violence against the youngest members of the human family. New York State medical students can choose to take elective course work in abortion but the majority, understandably, choose not to. Doctors have been shunning this dirty little specialty more and more as technology makes it unavoidably clear that abortion kills babies.
The New York State Right to Life Committee opposes violence against innocent human beings for any reason but finds it particularly revolting that such human atrocities are committed by those who have chosen one of the otherwise most honorable professions where helping and healing should always be the goal.
The "pro-choice" movement does not want anyone else to have a choice. Not the babies and not the doctors. They want abortion to be normal, to be widely accepted, to be part of the medical mainstream. Abortion, as an elective, wasnt chosen often enough for the "pro-choice" movement so they want to force it on those who otherwise would not seek to learn, or even be associated with, such a heinous act. The always-ridiculous label "pro-choice" cant even pass the straight face test. They are losing the battle for the hearts of this nation and they are frantically trying to stop the landslide against this horrible choice.*
Though we know that abortion will never be normal, we also know that expecting this of residents can turn some people, naturally sensitive to such terrorism, into people with a stake in denying the humanity of unborn children in order to live with themselves after taking part in these acts
Further, trauma -natural when one human being even witnesses the death of another- can eventually sear the conscience when repeated over and over.
Consider the statement of a man whose field is late term abortion. Warren Hern said, "There is no possibility of denial of an act of destruction by the operator. It is before one's eyes. The sensation of dismemberment flows through the forceps like an electric current."
In a normal world these words would be attributed to a psychopath, not a doctor.
Residents and doctors and all people of good will should be terrified of the tyranny being promulgated by the NYS Assembly. The frightening inevitability of this bill, should it become law, will be an attempt to take away any opt out provision. This Assembly has already shown their disdain for personal integrity by their last assault on what used to be an inviolable doctrine of the conscience when they passed AB2006, the so-called Womens Health and Wellness Bill," also introduced by Glick. If this trend is allowed to continue, it will not be long before all doctors in New York State are forced to take the lives of children - or be forced out of real medicine altogether.
The New York State Right to Life Committee calls on the NYS Legislature to reject this assault on children on conscience and on the taxpayers of this state.
*note-CDC statistics, just released, reveal another drop in the abortion rate in our country.
