Rochester Area Right To Life |
Wow! We're really behind in updating this page - 10 years!
However, here's a quick note:
The library and the newsletter are still going strong. The newsletter goes to over 10,000 people a year. But there's something new. The newsletter and the library both now include information on the issue that wasn't an issue in 1997 - stem cell research and treatment. RARTL is opposed to embryonic stem cell research, which destroys small human beings and does not have a success record in humans. RARTL is in favor of adult stem cell research, which has resulted in treatment for 72 human diseases and conditions as of July, 2007. It includes umbilical cord cells, amnionic stem cells, and stem cells you carry in your own body. Adult stem cell research destroys no human life.
Our booth now goes to multiple health fairs and other events around the county. Plus, we go to any church that invites us. (Would your church like us to come?) Each time the booth goes out, we have a large selection of brochures that is available to the public.
We have for two years been able to provide leaflets to use as bulletin inserts to interested churches in the Rochester area. Many were able to use the brochures on multiple Sundays.
We have run radio and print ads advocating for the unborn babies and their mothers.
=================================================
1997
This ad appeared as 4- second spots in movie theaters in the Rochester area. 24 screens with 4 shows a day each for an average audience of 100 people per showing for 365 days = over 3.5 million exposures to the idea that life is sacred. Thanks to all who helped!
A special thanks to a special donor who paid for the bookings at the theaters.
We showed at the Regal Theatres in Henrietta Marketplace Mall (6 theatres), Culver Ridge in Irondequoit, and Eastview Mall, which is at the junction of Wayne, Monroe, and Ontario counties.
Other Accomplishments for 1997
Newsletter: Provided combination of historic, current and projected information on a regular basis to individuals and organizations. The newsletter is a compilation of issue research, reporting on legislative activity in Albany and Washington, listing of a wide range of health care services and current events and local information. Over 11,000 newsletters distributed in 1997.
Speakers Bureau: Provided presentations on requested topics or focus, e.g. speaker may cover abortion topic with requested emphasis on RU-486 or fetal development or abortion techniques, etc. Over 4,000 people addressed in 1997.
Two radio interviews (WMHN) heard by an estimated audience of 75,000+. "Minute-For-Life" radio announcements 3 times a week.
Library: Provided the most extensive Monroe County collection of information on the topics and related subjects; accessible to all people with no requirement for usage. Library includes audio (200+ tapes), video (80+ tapes), pamphlet, book, reference materials, etc. Development of a computer retrieval system has provided users with ease in reviewing available materials on specific topics. This library is used by students, teachers, parents, legislators, religious leaders/teachers, and others who have sought a range of issue information with source citations often required.
Literature Distribution: Over 5,000 pieces of literature have been distributed at the office, county fairs, and other public events.
Internet Access: We provided Internet access for searching for information on our covered subjects during office hours to the general public with no requirement for usage. This availability complements the library function.
Movie Theaters: Over 3.5 million viewings of our theater ad stating that "The Choice is Life." were projected during 1997 (24 screens x 4 movies each x 100 people per showing x 365 days)
An enormous Thank You
to everyone who made it happen!!!
